November 10, 2021
The Deputy City Clerk administered the oath of office, and Council Members
congratulated Police Officers Heyward and Fritsche.
COUNCIL
Council Member Murphy commented on the Everett Herald article released this
week regarding the potential purchase of a hotel located in Everett for the
homeless population. He stated that it was unfortunate that the project had
gotten this far along without the City Council being informed, and he has questions
and concerns regarding impacts on the neighborhoods, police officers, safety, and
so on. He made a motion to work with the City Attorney to draft a letter to send
to the County asking the County to pause any further efforts on the homeless
hotel project until such time as the City Council can be briefed by County Staff and
provide feedback on the project. Council Member Vogeli seconded the motion.
Council Member Murphy agreed to work with City Attorney David Hall to draft the
letter and bring it back to Council for further consideration.
Council Member Roberts stated he attended the Riverside Neighborhood meeting
alongside Council Member Bader, where they discussed the California Street
Bicycle plan.
Council Member Vogeli commented that she is interested in setting up a briefing
with the County for more information regarding the purchase of a hotel located
within City limits for the homeless populations. She also attended the Westmont
Holly Association and the Everett Housing Authority Board meeting.
Council Member Bader attended the Snohomish County Health District Board
meeting where the current budget was discussed and interesting topics regarding
what has happened during COVID-19 and what could be expected in the future.
ADMINISTRATION UPDATE ON PRIOR BUSINESS
Deputy Mayor Nick Harper had no comments or updates.
3
