RESOLUTION NO. <br />LI <br />EVERETT <br />WASHINGTON <br />A RESOLUTION Concerning Potential Community Impacts of an Emergency Shelter and/or Temporary <br />Housing Facility <br />WHEREAS, <br />1. The City of Everett recognizes the crisis of homelessness in our city and supports a <br />range of solutions, including emergency shelter and temporary and transitional housing. <br />2. The City is committed to working with its non-profit and governmental partners to <br />develop and support such solutions. <br />3. Snohomish County has proposed purchasing a hotel or motel within the City for use as <br />temporary housing, transitional housing, and/or emergency shelter space. <br />4. The City intends to monitor and mitigate impacts of any such project on the surrounding <br />neighborhood to ensure the success of the project while protecting the quality of life of <br />other City residents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: <br />1. The conversion of a hotel or motel to temporary or transitional housing and/or <br />emergency shelter space should be designed and managed to minimize impacts on the <br />surrounding neighborhood. <br />2. The City will monitor the impacts of any such facility. <br />3. If there is an increase in police or fire calls for service, or citizen complaints, or other <br />relevant measure, the City Council shall direct the city attorney to prepare for Council's <br />consideration a proposed no -sit no -lie ordinance or similar ordinance intended to <br />mitigate impacts of the facility on the surrounding neighborhood. <br />Councilmember introducing resolution <br />Passed and approved this day of , 2021. <br />Council President Mayor <br />Date: Date: <br />
