DYKEMAN www.dykeman.net 1716 West Marine View Drive
425.259.3161 (T) 2nd Floor/Everett,WA 98201
July 28, 2021
Tony Lee, Code Official, City of Everett.
RE: Proposed Platorm Lift-Flying Squirrel Sports.
Dear Tony,
The Flying Squirrel Sports project is proposing to construct a platform lift to provide an accessible route to
a 3'-2" high play platform inside their facility. The play platform accessed by the lift is not a separate story
or mezzanine, and we believe the lift proposed to be the appropriate means to provide an accessible
route to that space.
Per IBC 1109.8.7, platform lifts are permitted as part of an accessible route to play components or soft
contained play structures. Per ICC/ANSI 117, platform lifts are allowed as a component of accessible
routes within a facility. The lift will be compliant with ICC/ANSI section 410 and ASME A18.1. The play
facilities accessed will be primarily trampolines. It is not anticipated that wheelchair or other disabled
users will be frequent users of the platform and trampolines, but we do believe that the platform lift will
provide a means for disabled users to access these facilities when-and as-needed.
We believe the proposed platform lift to be compliant with codes, as indicated above, and hope the City
concurs.
Sincerely
W. Douglas Hofius, AIA
Project Manager
CC:
1967
ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN 2017
