Please review and <br /> respond to the comments below. <br /> General <br /> 1. The building was permitted as an A-3 and B Occupancy under the 1988 UBC. The proposal <br /> is a change of occupancy from assembly/business to education. The A-3 Occupancy, as <br /> specified in the 1988 code was for occupant loads less than 300. IBC Table 1604.5 would <br /> classify the current building as Risk Category II as the primary occupancy was not public <br /> assembly with an occupant load greater than 300. The current proposal would be <br /> categorized as a Group III Risk Category as it is a Group E Occupancy with an occupant <br /> load greater than 250. The building must therefore comply with the requirements for IBC- <br /> level seismic forces as specified in IEBC Section 301.1.4.1 for the new risk category. IEBC <br /> Section 1007.3.1 <br /> 2. Please supply 2 sets of plans for electrical plan review for the change of occupancy to <br /> educational facility as required in WAC 296-46B900. Please include all required <br /> documentation listed including any pertinent information bringing the building into <br /> compliance with 2017 WAC 296-46B and NFPA70 (2017 NEC) such as tamper resistant <br /> receptacles, etc. <br /> 3. Emergency egress lighting should be shown in the corridors, electrical equipment room, <br /> the boy's toilet room and at the exterior landings of the exterior exit doorways. Section <br /> 1008.3 <br /> 4. A sign stating Exit in raised characters and braille and complying with ICC A117.1 should <br /> be shown adjacent to the exterior exit doorways.
