The purpose of this report is to evaluate the steep
slope on this property with regard to the proposed addition.
Background:
The subject property is located at 2325 Taylor Drive in Everett(parcel#00417000100202). It has
been proposed to subdivide the subject parcel into two separate parcels by bisecting it in the east-
west direction. After dividing the property, a new residence is planned to be constructed on the
lot bordering Taylor Drive, whereas the planned development for the northern lot consists of
remodels/additions that will enlarge the building footprint on the northern and southern sides of
the existing house.
A steep north-facing slope exists on the northern two-thirds of the subject property. The existing
residence is at the top of the steep slope. Since this steep slope is considered a geologic hazard
and is situated within 200 feet of the proposed developments, a geotechnical assessment is
required by City of Everett per Everett Municipal Code(EMC)1 chapter 19.37.080(B)(1).
Geological Overview:
Geological mapping'indicates the presence of Quaternary transitional beds (Qtb)near the
surface at the site of this property. Transitional beds typically consist of mostly thick beds of
gray silt and fine to very fine sand, though some layers of sand to peaty sand and gravel may be
present in the lower part of these formations. In terms of hardness, transitional beds generally
13705 Bel-Red Road •Bellevue,Washington 98005
Phone 425/649-8757 •Fax 425/649-8758
