1532 Grand Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
March 17, 1986
,iqiNnou0
Mr. Larry Crawford MAR 28 198
Public Services Manager __..__......_._._---
City of Everett
3200 Cedar Street C . OF EVERETT
Everett, WA 98201 pct:ic Yorks Deo4
Dear Mr. Crawford:
We are interested in putting a fence on a portion of the 16th Street public
right-of-way abutting our property. The right-of-way borders Grand Avenue Park
and we have been experiencing minor, but continual, problems since we moved into
the house last summer. Please note on the enclosed drawing that the right-of-way
is the only access to our garage, built sixty years ago.
Earlier this month, as we discussed on the phone. a motorbike rider mistook
the driveway for a roaJ and only missed going off the bluff by several feet. The
circumstances were unusual (he was being pursued by the police) but his
misjudgement could have cost him his life. A gate across the driveway would
distinguish it from the roadway.
A fence between the two properties would separate us from the patrons of the
park who ride their bikes, throw papers, take pictures and walk their dogs in our
back yard. Defining the yard will hopefully reduce the uncontrollable mob,
extensive verbal abuse, trespassing and small fires we experienced last Fourth of
July.
In assessing the fee, please consider that the fence, at our cost, will be
mutually beneficial: to the city by defining the driveway which caused an unsafe
situation, to the park by solving our complaint against the trespassers, and to
us by providing us with privacy and a better-defined driveway.
Your help and understanding will be appreciated. If you need further
information, you can call Gail during the day at 442-3433. Our home phone is
258-3191.
Sincerely,
UZ
' Tw
Steve agd 6a 1 ut stad
Enclosures
