S
March 1,2020 Todd suffered a fire at his residence that minimally damaged the structure. Negotiations,
through no delay on our part, consumed 3 1/2 months for the insurance company to provide us with an
agreed to list of specifications.
I am Robert Ade,father of Todd Ade, I have Power of Attorney to handle any and all of Todd's affairs. This
includes the obtaining of a building repair permit. This is the subject and request of this email. Respectfully, I
appeal to you directly to expedite our application to perform repairs per submitted plans that go back to July
24, 2020.
Shortly after the fire,we contracted with Mr. Galen Holmquist/Paradise Construction Inc.to assist with
estimate, make application to The City of Everett and perform all repairs. Paradise Construction has
experience with the City, and are ready, willing, and able to immediately commence repairs on our behalf.
Since application was made on July 24th the process has moved inexplicably slow, notwithstanding Covid-19
restrictions. As of today,October 30th,we are still waiting for building plans review.
A few corrections were requested by Associate Planner,Grace Pollard and September 11 our application was
finally accepted as submitted. The only real change being to add a stairway to connect the two floors.
The insurance policy coverage for monetary compensation for Loss of Use will expire at the fire anniversary
date of March 1, 2021.This loss of continuing monthly compensation will affect Todd's financial situation. If a
City plan review could be performed within 10 days of the date of this email, any corrections would be
quickly addressed from our side. My request is that the City issue a building repairs permit per submitted
and approved plans within 7 days of addressing corrections. Repairs could then be initiated without delay
and completed by the fire anniversary date to the benefit of Todd including the fact that the property would
meet all current codes.
If there are any further corrections needed in the application plans,we need to know immediately.
Is there someone in the department we can contact directly who can help us move this toward permit
issuance?
We were advised that the review process would take 8-10 weeks. This has certainly stretched well beyond
that with no end in sight.
Thank you for your consideration of my request!
Robert Ade, P.O.A.for Todd
2 I
