September 1, 2020
Tom Gish
1318 37 h St.
Buildings A, B, C
Everett Washington
YOUR ATTENTIION IS URGENT
We still have a water cross -connection problem with the tank less water heaters that were
installed without permits.
This came to our attention on November 6, 2018 when the city was called to the site by a
contractor, he was doing work for a condo owner and found gas regulator problems with
the buildings. The gas regulator problems have been corrected.
On April 5, 2019, during the first set of gas regulator inspections, the inspector notified
the contractor that permits and inspections would be required for the water heaters and
the cross connection would need to be corrected. This was followed up with an email to
Heritage Heating NW on April 11, 2019 (email attached with photos)
On March 5, 2020 I met with two gentlemen on site to final the last building for the gas
regulators, we discussed the problem with the condensate lines combining with the water
heater T&P drain lines, together, we came up with a solution that was both cost efficient
and time saving. We agreed that a plumbing permit would be obtained and this repair
would be dealt with ASAP.
This is a cross connection between potable water and corrosive condensate. This is not
allowed per UPC section 602 Unlawful Connections.
I have shared this letter with our code compliance department.
Your swift attention to this issue would be very much appreciated.
Shellie Pons
Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector
City of Everett
425-257-7274
spons@everettwa.gov
