Prepared By. Ben Weinberg, EIT
m Site Plan(s) m Density Test Summary i Signature:
Attachments: ❑ Installation Records 0 Other
Reviewed By.
SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS (CONTINUED):
Lot 215:
Previously, GeoDesign identified three areas along the east, west, and south edge of the foundation area with unsuitable
material which required over-excavation of 6 inches to 5 feet of material. Today, GeoDesign noted that the foundation
excavation subcontractor had completed backfilling the over-excavated areas with a 2-inch clean crushed rock material
compacted into a firm and unyielding mass.
Relative compaction of the remaining exposed foundation subgrade soil was tested using a Troxler Moisture-Density gauge;
an in-place density test confirmed that the material had been compacted to greater than 95%of its maximum dry density as
determined by a Modified Proctor analysis.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the
intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and saturated material be removed from the base of
foundation areas prior to the placement of concrete.
Lot 216:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 216. The exposed
footing subgrade soil generally consisted of a gray-brown silty AND with gravel that could probed less than 2 inches using
a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. Relative compaction of the footing subgrade soils was tested using a Troxler
Moisture-Density gauge; in-place density tests indicated that material had been compacted to greater than 95% of its
maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the
intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and saturated material be removed from the base of
foundation areas prior to the placement of concrete.
A summary of observations and density tests taken can be found in the attached Figure 1 and Nuclear Density Gauge Data.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents.
