My name is Margaret Harvey. I live at 1011 35th Street in Everett. On April 30, 2019, I purchased Utilities Permit U1904-043 for an irrigation system at my home. The permit was for a new connection, with the cost of$520.00. As it turns out, this was an incorrect permit, due to my error in completion of the application of the permit. Tim Markham, Water Control Operator and Cross Connections Specialist with Everett Public Works, visited me today, May 30th, to tell me of my mistake. He said my permit was not appropriate. Because I did not get a dedicated irrigation line, (instead, the water for the system comes from my domestic line), the appropriate permit is one just for an irrigation backflow assembly (DCVA). He explained how important to his success as a Water Control Operator that I have the correct permit as that allows him to monitor the backflow from my system. Additionally, Tim told me the cost of the correct permit is $35.00. I'm requesting a refund for the difference of what I paid ($520) and the cost of the permit I should have received ($35), which is $485.00. I'm also presuming I should have a new permit so that Tim has my backflow assembly in his oversight system. Thank you for your assistance.
