The local match of
$229,412 is funded through Transit Fund 425. The initial purchase expense is funded
through Fund 425 and will subsequently be reimbursed from the grant.
The price of the bus and charging pad are exempt from sales tax. The final price of the bus
and charging pad is $1,062,353. Minor modifications may be made during the
manufacturing of the bus. Due to supply chain challenges, ordering the bus now will cut
production time by six or more months. Therefore, the authorization to purchase the bus
and charging pad is time sensitive.
Project summary statement:
Everett Transit needs one fully electric fixed -route transit bus with inductive charging and
standard plug-in charging capability, along with one inductive charging pad at 75kW to
replace an existing diesel bus. The new zero -emission bus will reduce the diesel engine
emissions emitted into the atmosphere by Transit services. The bus and charging pad will
be sales tax exempt per WA RCW 82.04.4496 and RCW 82.12.020.
The buses and charging pad will be purchased through a Washington State Department of
Enterprise Services contract #06719-01/EVT #2021-121, which allows for purchases from
competitively awarded contracts in lieu of soliciting bids on our own.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Award and authorize purchase of one fully electric fixed route transit bus and charging pad
from Gillig LLC using the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services contract
#06719-01/EVT #2021-121 for a total of $1,062,353.
