The plan known as the
Parks Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan provides the framework for decisions
regarding parks and recreation project and program priorities. The plan is updated every
six years and it is kept on file with the Washington State Recreation and Conservation
Office (RCO) in order to maintain the City's grant eligibility.
As part of the PROS plan development there was a robust public engagement
process. During 2021, we conducted 2 different surveys that yielded over 600 responses
and attended pop-up events at Forest Park and Thornton A. Sullivan Park. We held two
different virtual meetings to collect input and engaged with several community
stakeholders from both the Everett and Mukilteo School Districts, Everett Housing
Authority, Connect Casino Road, and the Boys and Girls Clubs. Finally, we received emails
from several residents and community groups advocating for our park system. The board
of park commissioners recommended at its December 7, 2021 meeting that City Council
adopt the PROS plan.
The link to the PROS Plan is aroject website.
The link to the draft copy of the City of Everett's 2022 PROS Plan is LINK .
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council)
On 2/9/22 — Briefing Only
On 2/16/22 — Adopt Resolution adopting the 2022 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space
(PROS) plan.
