Our response appears in bold. 1. The scope of the project is not clear. The submitted drawings appear to be combination of marked-up issued drawings from the original submittal and supplemental structural foundation drawings. The mark-ups only show the building addition,with the garages marked as"deleted", while the structural drawings show both. Please clarify the project scope. See IBC Section 107.2.1. The project scope is per the originally-approved plans with the following exceptions: - The two new garages have been deleted from the project by the Owner. - The foundation system of the addition has been changed to a pile-supported foundation with grade beams, because unsuitable bearing soils were encountered during construction. 2. Structural and geotechnical special inspections are required for this project. A table should be provided listing the type and extent(e.g., periodic,continuous, etc.)of each inspections. See IBC Tables 1705.3, 1705.6 and 1705.7. Structural observation and geotechnical special inspection requirements have been added to S1.1. Note that we are not requiring structural special inspections. 3. Structural observation should be performed for this project. A requirement should be included in the drawings. See IBC Section 1704.6.1(5).
