Detail 1/S-1.0 shows the pile extending to the top of the foundation element,potentially resulting <br /> in transfer of loading through friction instead of bearing. Calculations substantiating the transfer <br /> capacity should be submitted for review. Alternatively, the design should be revised to ensure <br /> adequate depth of reinforced concrete above the piles to provide end bearing. See IBC Sections <br /> 1604.1 and 1604.4. <br /> Per ACI 318-14 Section 20.6.1,adequate concrete cover has been specified in the plans to ensure <br /> adequate depth of reinforced concrete above the piles to provide end bearing. <br /> 11. The pile retrofit per Detail 1/S-1.0 is located eccentrically from the supported load above. This <br /> will induce moments into the piles concurrently with the axial loads. Calculations substantiating <br /> the pile design for combined axial and flexural loading should be submitted for review. See IBC <br /> Section 1604.1 and 1604.4. <br /> Pile analysis with eccentric loads has been included in the structural calculations pp.4-6. <br /> 12. The pile retrofit in Detail 1/S-1.0 indicates rebar dowels between the existing foundations and <br /> new grade beams. The size, number,and spacing should be specified.
