Upon arrival to the site we met with John Staniford and the pile contractors from Advanced Foundation Supports to discuss the days plans. We observed the installation of pin piles per the plans. We were informed that measurements slightly differed, and as such the piles were evenly spaced and two additional piles were added. The piles to be driven consisted of 2-inch diameter, schedule 80, steel pipe, in 5'3" and 10'6" sections that were connected with internal slip couplers. The piles were driven to a refusal criteria of less than one inch of vertical movement in 60 seconds of continuous driving with a 140-pound Rhino Heavy Duty Post Driver. We monitored as each of the pin piles were driven to refusal. The depths of refusal and corresponding pile numbers are listed in the table below. The depths are measured from the existing ground surface. The locations of the pin piles can be found on the attached site plan.
