App.Date: 6/15/2020 <br /> THESE DOCUME��NTS RA1�EVvT� Proposed Use: MULTI FAMILY <br /> F(APPROVED ' _ Description: North Creek Apartments-Are damage <br /> PUBLIC WORK ,MECHANICAL,FIRE STRUCTURAL 0 repairs <br /> SUPPRESSION,ELECTRICAL OR <br /> PLUMBING PERMITS Reviewed By: �+O` Date: 12-0233 <br /> Project: North Creek Apartments Fire Damage Office Set Job Site Set Fire/Planning Set <br /> Location: 114013`d Ave SE, Bldg G, Everett,WA 982..,0- <br /> CG Project: 20191.10 Report: 1 <br /> Client:ServPro General Contractor: David Carroll, ServPro <br /> Field Rep: Mike Maechler, PE,SE i - <br /> PURPOSE AND SCOPE LVI EWES FOR PrPmiT <br /> A field representative of CG Engineering was on site on May 21st,2020 to observe and evaluate a deck <br /> and exterior wall that had been damaged in a recent fire to apartment building G in the North Creek <br /> Apartments complex.The fire started at the exterior second-story deck of unit G3 and spread to the <br /> adjacent exterior wall from which it is attached.At the time of the site visit,the contractor had <br /> removed sections of ceiling and wall drywall at the first floor to expose the floor joists and sheathing <br /> above and the exterior wall framing immediately adjacent to the deck for observation.Additionally, <br /> the siding and sheathing was removed from an existing privacy wall north of the deck so the wall studs <br /> could be observed.A structural repair sketches (SK-1 and SK-2) are included at the end of this report. <br /> EXISTING BUILDING <br /> The existing building is a two-story,wood framed, multi-family building.The roof was not observed but <br /> is likely framed with wood trusses.The second floor and deck are framed with wood joists, beams,and <br /> columns.The walls are framed with wood studs and sheathed with plywood siding.The foundation <br /> system was not observed but is likely composed of concrete stem walls and interior pad footings. <br /> OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS @Itze/in <br /> 1. Deck—The entirety of the existing deck framing was observed to be significantly char a <br /> structurally compromised. We recommend that the deck joists, rim beams, columnsd "� 0/ <br /> sheathing be replaced with new members of like kind. Second oor 'lywood— e interior loor plywood imme•lately adjacen o t e dec appeared <br /> to be damaged by smoke.We recommend cutting out the first 4 feet of plywood inside the unit <br /> for the full length of the deck and replacing with like kind. Refer to SK-1. Reconstruct the floor <br /> assembly as necessary to match the existing assembly.This is acceptable per IEBC 601.2. <br /> 3. East Exterior Wall—Charring was observed in the siding of the east exterior wall under the deck. <br /> The wall was exposed from the interior and the framing appeared to be undamaged.
