5. Civil Service Educational Incentive Points. Employees will receive the following points on Civil <br /> Service promotional processes for Inspector,Assistant Fire Marshall,Medical Services Officer, <br /> Captain,Battalion Chief and Division Chief: <br /> 2 points for completion of Level I Educational Matrix hours or <br /> 4 points for completion of Level I&Level II Educational Matrix hours <br /> 2 points for an accredited fire related Associate's Degree or <br /> 4 points for an accredited Bachelor's Degree <br /> 6. Entry Level Firefighter Probationary Period <br /> Entry Level Firefighters who begin City employment prior to attending the fire academy will <br /> complete at 12 month probationary period that begins on the first day of the academy that they <br /> graduate. Qualifications for Educational Incentive under Article 20 of the contract will occur after <br /> the 12 month probationary period has been completed. <br /> Regardless of their probationary duration and academy start date, all new employees will follow <br /> the salary schedule steps in Article 9. <br /> For promotional testing purposes,the minimum periods of time in service required to be <br /> completed prior to being eligible to take promotional examinations will be based off the first day <br /> of probation(not the employees actual date of hire). <br /> Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Committee <br /> (JATC). <br /> Parties agree to the following: <br /> 1. To form a Local JATC Subcommittee with equal representatives from labor and <br /> management. The purpose of the committee is to establish and manage the Everett Fire <br /> Department's JATC within the confines of the rules and requirements of the Washington <br /> State Firefighters JATC Program. <br /> 2. To require as a condition of employment that all new uniformed employees participate in <br /> and successfully complete the requirements of the JATC program, achieving Journeyman <br /> status within the prescribed 3-year apprenticeship program timeline. If due to approved <br /> extenuating circumstances (e.g., extended disability),the apprentice is unable to complete <br /> the apprenticeship program within the established timelines, he/she shall be granted an <br /> appropriate extension of the timeline to complete the program, relative to the time missed <br /> due to extenuating circumstances. Willful failure to complete the requirement of the <br /> JATC program shall be grounds for discipline up to and including termination. <br /> 3. That firefighters entering the JATC Program at Step A will not move to the First Class <br /> Firefighter pay scale until they have attained Journeyman status. <br /> 4. That the JATC Program will not include the Fire Officer component at this time. <br /> 29 <br />
