However, there are exceptions, including Exception 1 which is "Structural elements <br />whose stress is not increased by more than 5%". The weight of the proposed new Carlisle TPO roofing <br />system is 0.83 psf. The current dead load of the roof system is 22.4psf. The proposed dead load is less <br />than 5% of the existing. This percentage is further reduced considering design snow loads. <br />Therefore, the proposed additional dead load from the new roof system is acceptable according to the <br />above referenced code section.
