The check was accepted by the owner's representative, Emily Liger, of
Everett Transitional Housing Services (425-200-0033 office 425-308-2336 cell). Prior to renting the room, we had viewed
the home on two other occasions and assumed there would be a total of 4 tenants because the home only had 4
bedrooms located on the second floor and one bathroom located on the main floor. However, we learned when
remitting the rent check on 06/26/19, the owner was in the process of dividing the current living room on the main floor
into a space to accommodate two additional bedrooms. I expressed my concern to Emily Liger at that time about the
house having 6 adult occupants with only one bathroom and the fact that none of the bedrooms nor hallways, etc. were
equipped with smoke detectors.
While at the house on 06/26/19, 1 met the individual the owner had hired to do the remodeling. Because my husband
and I own a general contracting business and I know a little about building codes, permitting, etc. I approached this
individual and asked him if the work he was going to perform had been permitted. His response was "I didn't pull a
permit. It's the owner's problem if there isn't one."
We subsequently moved my daughter out of the residence on 07/06/19. Upon retrieving her clothing from the
basement laundry room, I noticed that the large family room in the basement had been reconstructed into two
additional bedrooms. Therefore, the owner now has constructed 4 additional bedrooms in this house, allowing him to
iz
