GeoTest Services, Inc. Report Date 7/17/2019
Anderson Residence-Everett,Washington GTS Project No.19-0384
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
The purpose of this evaluation is to establish general subsurface conditions beneath
the site from which conclusions and recommendations pertaining to project design
can be formulated. Our scope of services includes the following tasks:
• Exploration of soil and groundwater conditions underlying the site by
advancing four hand-auger test holes and dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP)
tests to evaluate subsurface conditions.
• Laboratory testing on representative samples to classify and evaluate the
engineering characteristics of the soils encountered.
• Providing a written report including a description of subsurface conditions,
exploration logs, findings and recommendations pertaining to site preparation
and earthwork, seismic design, foundation and floor slab recommendations,
temporary and permanent slopes, and critical areas analysis and discussion per
the City of Everett Municipal Code (EMC 19.37.080).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The proposed construction consists of an addition on the west side of the existing
residence at 1528 Grand Avenue in Everett, Washington (See Vicinity Map, Figure 1).
The structural footprint of the addition lies within an existing paved carport and
elevated deck at the rear entrance to the house. The crest of a steep western slope
(designated as a landslide and erosion hazard per EMC 19.37.080) is located in the
western portion of the property. The new residence footprint, after construction of the
proposed addition, will lie a little over 40 feet from the crest of this slope. We anticipate
wood-framed construction up to three stories in height, with relatively light
foundation loads and slab-on-grade ground-level floors. GTS understands that a
covered carport will also be constructed on the west side of the residence as part of
the planned site improvements.
SITE CONDITIONS
This section includes a description of the proposed construction and general surface
and subsurface conditions observed at the project site during the time of our field
investigation. Interpretations of site conditions are based on the results and review of
available information, site reconnaissance, subsurface explorations, laboratory testing,
and previous experience in the project vicinity.
1
