. t .
Subsurface Exploration,Geologic Hazard,and
Janowicz Property Geotechnical Engineering Report
Everett,Washington Project and Site Conditions
single-family residence,a driveway, and other related site developments on the property. Plans
for the proposed construction have not been provided to us.
The site slopes down to the west at roughly 20 percent, to the top of a near-vertical slope
above the railroad right-of-way and the shores of Possession Sound. A subtle draw near the
center of the lot extends for the full length of the property. The plat map indicates that this
subtle draw may be a designated drainage collection.
Vegetation on the lot includes grasses and woody vegetation that have been mowed to within a
foot of the surface. On the near-vertical slope that leads to the beach there are several
deciduous trees with bowed trunks that lean out of the slope. Adjacent properties are
landscaped with grass lawns,.shrubs,and trees.
3.0 SITE EXPLORATION
The site exploration was made on March 15, 2018, and consisted of two exploration borings.
The various types of materials and sediments encountered in the explorations, as well as the
depths where characteristics of these materials changed, are indicated on the exploration
boring logs presented in the Appendix. The depths indicated on the logs where conditions
changed may represent gradational variations between sediment types in the field. If changes •
occurred between sample intervals in our borings, they were interpreted. The approximate
locations of the exploration borings are shown on Figure 2. The conclusions and
recommendations presented in this report are based on the exploration borings completed for
this study. The locations and depths of the explorations were completed within site access and
budgetary constraints. Because of the nature of exploratory work below ground, extrapolation
of subsurface conditions between and beyond the field explorations is necessary. It should be
noted that differing subsurface conditions may sometimes be present due to the random
nature of deposition and the alteration of topography by past grading and/or filling. The nature
and extent of any variations between and beyond the field explorations may not become fully
evident until construction. If variations are observed at that time, it may be necessary to
re-evaluate specific recommendations in this report and make appropriate changes.
3.1 Exploration Borings
The borings were drilled using a walk-behind, hollow-stem auger drill rig. During the drilling
process, samples were obtained at 2.5- and 5-foot intervals. The borings were continuously
observed and logged by an engineering geologist from our firm. The interpretive exploration
logs presented in the Appendix are based on the field logs, drilling action, and inspection of the
samples collected.
May 10,2018 ASSOCIATED EARTH SCIENCES,INC.
Page 2
N5/7d-170699E002-2-Profects‘201706491KEIWP
