• Type Ns Stream <br /> Cowardin: Riverine, Intermittent, Streambed,Vegetated (R4SB7) <br /> City of Everett Rating:Type Ns stream, 50' Buffer <br /> This stream did not contain water at the time of our September 22, 2015 site investigation. This <br /> intermittent (Type Ns) stream drains north through the wetland along the western border of <br /> the subject site. This stream does not support fish (not Type S or F), and is mapped as an <br /> unknown piped stream and a tributary to East Fork Pigeon Creek No. 1 on the City of Everett <br /> Critical Areas Map 1. In the City of Everett, when the buffer of a Type Ns stream is sparsely <br /> vegetated, un-vegetated, or is vegetated with invasive species, the standard buffer is 75 feet. <br /> The subject buffer will be reduced to 50 feet through buffer enhancement as provided by EMC <br /> 37.170(C). <br /> Non -Wetland <br /> Typical vegetation in the non-wetland portion of this site is represented by scattered trees <br /> including Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii, FacU), western red cedar (Thuja plicata, Fac), <br /> western white pine(Pinus monticola, FacU), noble Fir (Abies procera, FacU), and paper birch <br /> (Betula papyrifera, Fac), with and understory comprised of maintained lawn in the center of the <br /> site and an area of what appears to have once been lawn but is not currently maintained in the <br /> western portion of the property. Vegetation in the maintained lawn is dominated by colonial <br /> bentgrass (Agrostis tenuis, Fac) and square gooseneck moss (Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus, <br /> Nol/Upl), with lesser amounts of hairy cat's-ear (Hypochaeris radicata, FacU) and English ivy <br /> (Hedera helix, Nol/Upl). Vegetation in the area of abandoned lawn is represented by holly (Ilex <br /> aquifolium, FacU), Sitka mountain ash (Sorbus sitchensis, FacU), yellow archangel (Lamiastrum <br /> galeobdolon, Nol/Upl), sword fern (Polystichum munitum, FacU), and orchard morning glory <br /> (Convolvulus arvensis, Nol/Upl).Typical soils in the non-wetland portions of the property have a <br /> Munsell color of very dark greyish brown (10YR 3/2) with a texture of sandy loam from 0 to 18 <br /> inches below the surface. Soils were dry throughout the profile during our September 2015 site <br /> visit. <br /> NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION SERVICE SOILS DESCRIPTION: <br /> The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) mapped the subject property as being <br /> underlain by McKenna gravelly silt loam,0 to 8 percent slopes in the east and Alderwood-Urban <br /> land,0 to 8 percent slopes in the west. <br /> The NRCS describes McKenna gravelly silt loam as a moderately deep poorly drained soil in <br /> depressional areas and drainageways on till plains. It formed in glacial till. Typically the surface <br /> layer is very dark grayish brown gravelly silt loam about 8 inches thick.The subsoil is brown and <br /> light olive brown gravelly silt loam about 25 inches thick. Glacial till is located at a depth ranging <br /> from 20 to 40 inches. Included in this unit are small areas of soils that have slopes of more than <br /> 8 percent.
