November 13, 2013 Jody Searles 1508 Colby Avenue Everett, WA 98201 Re: Backwater Valve Installation at 1508 Colby Avenue Dear Ms. Searies: The Ciry's contractor, Steve's Plumbing, inspected your plumbing and drainage on October 10, 2013 to determine if a backwater valve is appropriate for your properry. Their findings indicate that installing a backwater valve would be beneficial. Please review the enciosed report. Previously, you signed the Backwater Valve Authorization Form authorizing the City to instail a backwater valve at your property. Based on the inspection report, we are proceeding with the installation. The City's contractor, Archer Construction, will be contacting you in late November to schedule the work. This will require some excavation on your property. The City will provide you on-site training on the operetion and maintenance of the backwater valve. Maintenance of the valve and the piumbing, sewer, and drainage on your property are your responsibility. The inspection identified additional site drainage and plumbing deficiencies in your private drainage and plumbing system. These include: . Private side sewer has debris and root intrusion . Additional work could be completed to seal exterior walls from groundwater intrusion These deficiencies are your responsibility to address, as you desire. The Ciry is not responsibl� for future sewer or storm damages that may msult from improper maintenance of, or deficiencies within, your private plumbing and drainage system.
