The root wuse is the Inabllity of the sewer system In North Everett to consistcntly draln like iCs supposed ro. Due to the fact thac It's a comhined stormwater/se�ver system,every time we Qet a heavy rainfall it ovenvhelms the sewer system. I have a drain 1'from the corner oE my house(�vith a basement)and on S/29,water was being(orcefully eJected from that sewer man hole. II was turning my yard and properry into a virwal stvimmhiG pnoL Looking do�an the strcet at Ihe intersection of Grand Ave and Everett Ave, that particuiar sev�er man hole cover�vas even bein�lifted ofF the ground from the immense pressure coming aut of the sewcr system. Duc to ine sheer volume of water f looding around my basement walls, �vater found a�vay in. It was concentrated on one corner(not really sure why)and destroyed the Iaminatc iloors that were installed down there�among thr.ones I flxed last year��hen a slmilar event occurred thlnlcing it was a one-time thing). In order to fix this situation, I have had to 6uy fans($40), replace floorin�and trlm(5288),spend 3 days v�orking un it�S750�,child care for my son($2A0)and other miscellaneous expenses($SO). No�v,since I am reasona�ly sure this isn't goinp,to be the last time, something needs to happen to help prevent tliis from liappening agaln. The only thing I can think oi Is perimeter/irench drains around the house a[an approxlmate cost of 53000��ust a ballpark�. If the drain 1'(rom my house doesn't drein,this is going to wntinually happen. I have no idea which came tirst, howevcr,I am sure vrater wasn't ever meant to come out of IL The next time it does and I don't have any other better means of rclocating that water,i will be in the same position trying to divert v�ater, drying out the basement and doin�my bes[to mltigatc mold for the safety of the occupan[s. �
