V • <br /> ORDINANCE NO, 3749 <br /> AN ORDINANCE submitting to the qualified electors of <br /> the City of Everett a proposition authorizing a special levy upon <br /> real and personal property in the City of Everett in the year <br /> 1960, payable in the year 1961, of approximately four mills which <br /> shall be in addition to the fifteen mills and other levies <br /> authorized by Article VII, Section 2, as enacted by Amendment 17 <br /> of the Constitution of the State of Washington, for the purpose <br /> of raising approximately $150,000.00 to be used to raise the <br /> wages of firemen as proposed in initiative petition and to provide <br /> for the maintenance in the Fire Department of the same working <br /> force on a basis of 40 hours per week; providing for the form of <br /> ballot to be used at said election; directing the City Clerk to <br /> place said proposition on the City General Election to be held <br /> on the 8th day of March, 1960, and declaring an emergency to <br /> exist. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1 : That there shall be submitted to the <br /> qualified electors of the City of Everett at the general municipal <br /> election to be held on the 8th day of March, 1960, a proposition <br /> authorizing the City to levy a tax upon real and personal property <br /> within the City of Everett in the year 1960, payable in the year <br /> 1961, of approximately four mills which shall be in addition to <br /> the fifteen mills and other levies authorized by Article VII, <br /> Section 2, as enacted by Amendment 17 of the Constitution of the <br /> State of Washington, for the purpose of raising approximately <br /> $150,000.00 to be used to raise the wages of firemen as provided <br /> in initiative petition and to provide for the maintenance in the <br /> Fire Department of the same working force on a basis of 40 hours <br /> per week. <br /> SECTION 2 : That the form of ballot to be used in such <br /> election shall be as follows : <br /> SPECIAL LEVY - FIREMENS ' WAGES AND HOURS <br /> Shall the City of Everett be authorized to levy <br /> in the year 1960 a tax of approximately 4 mills <br /> which shall be in addition to the 15 mills and <br /> other levies authorized by Amendment 17 of the <br /> Constitution of the State of Washington for the <br /> purpose of raising $150,000.00 for the purpose <br /> of raising the wages of firemen as proposed in <br /> initiative petition and to provide for the <br /> maintenance in the Fire Department of the same <br /> working force on a basis of 40 hours per week? <br /> Yes / 1` <br /> No l. <br /> SECTION 3: That there is hereby created a special fund <br /> to be known as the Firemens ' Wages Fund, which shall be used to <br /> supplement the General Current Expense Fund for the purposes above <br /> set forth; that expenditures from said fund shall be made by and <br /> through the City Clerk of the City of Everett as directed by the <br /> City Commissioners of the City of Everett and as provided by law. <br /> SECTION 4: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and <br /> publication. <br /> AtteSZ: MAYOR <br /> Cite Cle <br /> Passed: Jan. 6, 1960 <br /> .. °7 . 1960 <br />
