• ORDINANCE no. 3740 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DETERMINING TEE NUMBER OF THE VARIOUS OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EVERETT; PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF SUCH OFFICERS, ASSISTANTS, DEPUTIES AND EMPLOYEES; FIXING THEIR SALARIES; PROVIDING FOR MEDICAL SERVICES; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 36924 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT; AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 1, 1960. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN : SECTION 1 : That beginning January 1, 1960 and on and after sTaU date, the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett, in addition to those provided for in the Charter of the City of Everett, shall be as in this ordinance provided. SECTION 2: CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT There shall be in the office of the City Attorney a Special City Attorney, a stenographer and a relief stenographer (all Part time) . Said Special City Attorney and said stenographer shall perform such duties as the City Attorney may authorize and direct. SECTION 3: CITY HALL DEPARTMENT There shall be in the City Hall Department one janitor and one assistant janitor. Said janitor and said assistant janitor shall perform the janitor work in connection with the City Hall. SECTION 4: LIBRARY DEPARTMENT There shall be in the Library Department the following named officers, assistants and employees, to-wit: One Director, five Librarians, three Library Assistants, one Bookkeeper, one Secretary, one Bookmender Clerk, one Circulation Clerk, one Library Clerk (part time) , one or more Pages (part time ) , one Janitress (part time) and one Janitor. The Director shall be in general charge and shall have super- vision of the Library Department. The other officers, assistants and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by the Director. SECTION 5: CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT There shall be in the Civil Service Department the following named officers, to-wit: One Secretary (part time) , one Assistant Examiner (part time) , one or more Special Examiners (part time) . The Secretary, Assistant Examiner and other assistants shall perform such duties as the Civil Service Commission shall authorize and direct.
