ORDINANCE NO. 3723 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 37 OF ORDINANCE NO. 3694 <br /> ENTITLED: <br /> An Ordinance fixing and determining the number of <br /> the various officers, assistants, deputies and <br /> employees of the City of Everett; prescribing the <br /> duties of such officers, assistants, deputies and <br /> employees; fixing their salaries; providing for <br /> medical services; repealing Ordinance No. 3645 of <br /> the City of Everett; and declaring this ordinance <br /> shall take effect on January 1, 1959. <br /> AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. <br /> WHEREAS, the State Legislature of the State of Washingto <br /> has since the fixing of the budget for the year 1959 passed a <br /> law requiring the payment of time and one-half for all work <br /> performed in excess of 40 hours per week, and <br /> WHEREAS, it could not have been reasonably anticipated <br /> at the time of making the budget that said act would be passed <br /> vitally affecting the salary ordinance of the City of Everett, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: That Section 37 of Ordinance No. 3694 be, <br /> and it is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 37: <br /> (A) The following officers and employees of the Fire <br /> Department shall be employed on a 40 hour week, 8 hour <br /> day, 5 days per week, and shall be paid the monthly <br /> salary hereinafter set forth: <br /> Chief $546.00 per mo. <br /> Fire Marshal 472.50 per mo. <br /> Asst. Fire Marshal 441.00 per mo. <br /> Master Mechanic 472.50 per mo. <br /> Supt. Fire & Police Signals 499.00 per mo. <br /> Asst. Supt. Fire & Police Signals 472.50 per mo. <br /> Fire & Police Signals Technicians <br /> not over 436.00 per mo. <br /> (B) The following officers and employees of the Fire <br /> Department shall be employed on an hourly basis and <br /> shall work 42 hours per week and shall be paid time <br /> and one-half for all work performed in any one week in <br /> excess of 40 hours, or time and one-half for all work <br /> performed in excess of 8 hours in any one day, but not <br /> both. In event the Department shall not make available <br /> work for such firemen so that the amount earned shall <br /> be less than the amount of annual gross compensation <br /> as herein set forth after each position, they shall <br /> nevertheless receive such annual gross amount as com- <br /> pensation for being ready to work and standing by: <br /> Chief Fire Alarm Operator $2.28 per hr. <br /> Total gross not less than $5100.00 per year <br /> Fire Alarm Operators $2.254 per hr. <br /> Total gross not less than $5040.00 per year <br />
