. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3611 <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 3 and 5 of Ordinance No. <br /> 3527 of the City of Everett entitled: <br /> ,, An Ordinance relating to the regulation of traffic on <br /> the public streets of the City of Everett; providing <br /> for the regulation and control of parking meters; <br /> establishing and defining parking meter zones; requiring <br /> the deposit of coins in parking meters by the parking <br /> of cars adjacent thereto in parking meter zones; providing <br /> penalties for the violation of the provisions of this <br /> ordinance; designating the Parking Meter Department under <br /> the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Finance; declaring <br /> an emergency to exist and repealing Ordinance No. 2951. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3527 of the <br /> City of Everett be, and it is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> Section 3: Parking meters installed in the parking <br /> meter zones hereby established shall be placed upon the <br /> curb and adjacent to the individual parking places herein- <br /> after described. Each parking meter, either automatically <br /> or manually operated, shall be set to display upon deposit <br /> of a one cent coin in a 12 minute zone the limitation of <br /> parking time in said zone of 12 minutes, and to display <br /> upon the deposit of a five cent coin in a one or two hour <br /> parking zone a limitation of one hour for each five cent <br /> coin deposited depending on the zone. <br /> Section 2: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 3527 of the <br /> City of Everett be, and it is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 5 : When any vehicle shall be parked in any <br /> space alongside of or next to which a parking meter is <br /> located and in accordance with the provisions of this <br /> ordinance the operator of said vehicle shall upon entering <br /> said parking space immediately deposit in said parking <br /> meter a one cent coin in a 12 minute parking zone or a <br /> five cent coin for the parking time of one hour in a one <br /> hour zone or one or two five cent coins for parking time <br /> of one or two hours in a two hour parking zone. It shall <br /> be the duty of the operator of a vehicle upon entering <br /> said parking space to activate the timing mechanism pro- <br /> vided in either the automatically or manually operated <br /> parking meter in such a manner as to register his occupancy <br /> of the parking zone as evidenced by the number of coins <br /> deposited by said operator in the parking meter. If a <br /> person shall allow his or her vehicle to remain parked in <br /> any such space beyond the time fixed for such parking <br /> space or beyond the period for which a coin has been <br /> deposited the parking meter shall display a sign or signal <br /> showing illegal parking and in that event such vehicle <br /> shall be deemed to be parked overtime and beyond the time <br /> of legal parking in any such part of the street wherein <br /> such meter is located and such act or omission shall be <br /> unlawful and a violation of this ordinance. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Attest: <br /> C y C rk <br /> Passed: Mar. 19, 1957 <br /> Published: Mar. 20, 1957 <br />
