' r y ' <br /> • r <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3588 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the operation of <br /> beauty schools in the City of Everett; providing for the method <br /> of licensing thereof; exacting fees therefor; prescribing <br /> penalties for violation thereof. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : Definitions <br /> The word "person" shall include any individual, firm, <br /> association, partnership, corporation, manager, owner or <br /> employee. <br /> The words "beauty school" shall include any institution <br /> devoted to the instruction and training of students in the <br /> practice of hair dressing and beauty culture as provided by <br /> R.C.W. 18. 18.010 through 18. 18. 270 and as amended. <br /> Section 2 : It shall be unlawful for any person to engage <br /> in or carry on or conduct a beauty school in the City of <br /> Everett without first procuring a license so to do as provided <br /> by this ordinance. <br /> Section 3: All persons nowisoperating a beauty school <br /> within the City of Everett duly licensed by the State of Washing- <br /> ton shall be granted a license upon application, provide! such <br /> application is made within sixty days of the effective date of <br /> this ordinance . All other persons desiring to secure a license <br /> to operate a beauty school shall be required to secure a license <br /> and pay a fee of $1,000.00 and shall procure evidence and furnish <br /> the same to the Clerk of the City of Everett showing that they <br /> have students signed up and ready to enroll in said school in a <br /> number of not less -than twenty. <br /> Section 4: Applications for licenses hereunder shall be <br /> filed with the City Clerk who shall submit the same to the City <br /> Council for approval or rejection. If the application is <br /> approved by the City Council after a full investigation of said <br /> applicant as to fitness and character the Council shall enter an <br /> order directing the Clerk to issue a license to the applicant. <br /> Section 5 : All persons operating a beauty school pursuant <br /> to license shall at all times comply with the provisions of <br /> R.C.W. 18.18.010 through 18. 18.270 and in event they shall fail <br /> to comply with the laws of the State of Washington as above set <br /> forth the City Council upon hearing may revoke said license. <br /> Section 6: Any person violating any of the provisions <br /> hereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con- <br /> viction shall be punished by a fine of not to exceed S100.00 or <br /> imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not to exceed thirty <br /> days or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br /> ..-57r-C'M A Y O R < <br /> Attest: <br /> / <br /> ITY CLE <br /> l <br /> Passed: Dec. 4, 1956 <br /> Published: Dec. 5, 1956 <br />
