a • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3583 <br /> An Ordinance amending Section 13 of Ordinance No. 1655 entitled: <br /> An Ordinance regulating the installation, erection, alteration, repair, use and <br /> operation of electrical appliances in buildings and other structures in the City <br /> of Everett, providing a penalty for the violation thereof, repealing all ordinances <br /> and parts of ordinances in ccnf li ct herewith and declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 1655 be and it is hereby amended <br /> to read as follows: <br /> Section 13: The following requirements shall be mandatory as to all electric wiring <br /> hereafter installed in new buildings and existing buildings. <br /> A. Approved metal raceways shall be used for all electric wiring installed in <br /> any building within Fire Zone 1 and 2 of the City of Everett, School Puildings or any <br /> building to be used for the purpose of public assembly. Store buildings, factories, <br /> ware-houses, hotels, motels and any apartment house containing more than two apartments. <br /> if the voltage of any circuit is of 24 or less, the above requirements may be waived <br /> at the direction of the Electrical. inspector. <br /> B. All service entrance conductors shall be in approved metal. raceways. <br /> C. Not more than eight outlets will be allowed on any residential lighting circuit. <br /> D. All new residences of 750 so. ft. or over in area shall have installed an <br /> approved meter base or socket with a rating of not less than 100 ampers and a service <br /> conduit of not less than lift' size. last services shall be 2 inch rigid conduit or <br /> larger. <br /> E. All permanently installed electric space heaters and line voltage thermo- <br /> stats shall be grounded. <br /> F. All outlet boxes used in wiring systems such as knob and tube, loom wire and <br /> DX shall have approved cable clamps and all boxes installed within seven feet of a grounded <br /> sur face shall be of metal_. <br /> G. The neutral conductor of nny wiring system shall be 0-ro nded at the metering <br /> base or point. <br /> H. Dryer circuits shall have a separate disconnect switch or device at the <br /> main house panel. <br /> T. Final inspection of new jobs shall be made after fixture switches receptacles <br /> are installed. <br /> J. Service conductors installed where range or range and water heater will be <br /> installed shall not be smaller than #2 Standard sire Guage. <br /> Section 2- That an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance <br /> shall take effect upon its passage and publication. <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: � f <br /> C' y��Lerk <br /> Passed: Nov. 20, 1956 <br /> Published: Nov. 22, 1956 <br />
