WI REAS, the expenditures for the departments and Items above set forth will be in excess of the amount budgeted for the year 1956 for the reason that since the adoption of the budget for the year 1956 the electors of the City of Everett passed an ordinance providing for a raise in salary for certain firemen and policemen in the City of Everett, and such expenditure i_s a mandatory expenditure required by law enacted since the last annual budget was adopted, NOW, THEREFORE, TPA: CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist and the following departments are hereby allocated the following sums to cover expenditures hereinafter set forth in addition to that provided for in the budget for the year 1956 to provide for salary increases as allowed by initiative petition as adopted by the electors of the City of Everett, FIRE DEPARTMENT - salaries and wages. . . . $ 6,630.00 POLICE DEPARTMENT - salaries and wages. . . 4,053.74 Total appropriation 40,688.74 Section 2: That there is hereby appropriated out of the General Current Expense Fund of the City of Everett not other- wise budgeted for the year 1956 the sum of ,Everett which shall be charged against the respective departments and which shall be paid by the issuance of warrants or emergency warrants drawn by the proper officers of the City of Everett as provided by law.
