ORDINANCE NO. 3538 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14 and 35 OF ORDINANCE NO. 13533 ENTITLED: An Ordinance fixing and determining the number of the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett; prescribing the duties of such officers, assistants, deputies and employees; fixing their salaries; providing for medical services; repealing Ordinance No. 3492 of the City of Everett; and declaring this ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 195b. AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. WHEREAS, by clerical error of the Fire Department the above entitled ordinance fixing the positions and salaries of members of the Fire Department for the year 1956 was passed without provision 1 for one Captain Drillmaster, and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the best interests of the i Fire Department and the City of Everett that such position be created and maintained, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That it is necessary for the best interests of the Fire Department that the salary ordinance for the year 1956 above entitled be amended to provide for the inclusion of one Captain Drillmaster and that an emergency is hereby declared to I exist.and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and Ipublication. Section 2: That Section 14 of Ordinance No. 3533 is here- by amended to read as follows : Section 14: FIRE DEPARTMENT There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the Fire Department, to-wit: One Chief; three Battalion Chiefs; one Supt. Fire & Police Signals; one Assistant Supt. Fire & Police • Signals; one Fire Marshal; one Master Mechanic; one Captain Drillmaster; Fifteen Captains; one Assistant Fire Marshal; two Fire & Police Signal Technicians; one Chief Fire Alarm Operator; three Fire Alarm Operators; thirty-nine First Class Firemen; three Second Class Firemen. It shall be the duty of such officers and assistants in said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct. It shall also be the duty of every Fire Department employee of any rank to operate the signal room as directed by the Chief of the Fire Department or Commissioner of Safety. Section 3 : That Section 35 of Ordinance No. 3533 is here- by amended to read as follows :
