ORDINANCE NO. 3538 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14 and 35 OF ORDINANCE NO. <br /> 13533 ENTITLED: <br /> An Ordinance fixing and determining the number of <br /> the various officers, assistants, deputies and <br /> employees of the City of Everett; prescribing the <br /> duties of such officers, assistants, deputies and <br /> employees; fixing their salaries; providing for <br /> medical services; repealing Ordinance No. 3492 of <br /> the City of Everett; and declaring this ordinance <br /> shall take effect on January 1, 195b. <br /> AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. <br /> WHEREAS, by clerical error of the Fire Department the <br /> above entitled ordinance fixing the positions and salaries of members <br /> of the Fire Department for the year 1956 was passed without provision <br /> 1 for one Captain Drillmaster, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary for the best interests of the <br /> i Fire Department and the City of Everett that such position be <br /> created and maintained, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That it is necessary for the best interests of <br /> the Fire Department that the salary ordinance for the year 1956 <br /> above entitled be amended to provide for the inclusion of one <br /> Captain Drillmaster and that an emergency is hereby declared to <br /> I exist.and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and <br /> Ipublication. <br /> Section 2: That Section 14 of Ordinance No. 3533 is here- <br /> by amended to read as follows : <br /> Section 14: FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers and <br /> assistants in the Fire Department, to-wit: <br /> One Chief; three Battalion Chiefs; one Supt. Fire <br /> & Police Signals; one Assistant Supt. Fire & Police • <br /> Signals; one Fire Marshal; one Master Mechanic; <br /> one Captain Drillmaster; Fifteen Captains; one <br /> Assistant Fire Marshal; two Fire & Police Signal <br /> Technicians; one Chief Fire Alarm Operator; three <br /> Fire Alarm Operators; thirty-nine First Class <br /> Firemen; three Second Class Firemen. <br /> It shall be the duty of such officers and assistants <br /> in said department to perform the duties indicated <br /> by the name of their employment, and such other <br /> duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or <br /> Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct. <br /> It shall also be the duty of every Fire Department <br /> employee of any rank to operate the signal room as <br /> directed by the Chief of the Fire Department or <br /> Commissioner of Safety. <br /> Section 3 : That Section 35 of Ordinance No. 3533 is here- <br /> by amended to read as follows : <br />
