ORDINANCE NO. 3480 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITY OF EVERETT IN THE `WASHINGTON STATE LMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EVERETT AND PROVIDING FOR NOTIFICATION TO THE RETIREM}NdT BOARD OF SAID SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE EVERETT EMPLOYEES' RETIRET'`ENT SYSTEM AS CREATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 3023 AND PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 3023 ENTITLED: An Ordinance creating and establishing a retirement and pension system for certain superannuated and disabled officers and employees of the City of Everett ; providing for the payment of retirement allowances; prescribing the conditions on which said allowances shall be paid, the form thereof and the manner in vh ich the amount thereof shall be determined; fixing rates of contribution and providing for the adjustment thereof; providing for the administration of said system and the accumulation of the necessary funds therefor; providing that this ordinance shall take effect 'Jn January 1, 1945, and declaring an emergency. AND PROVIDING FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS HELD IN THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT FUND. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That the City of Everett does authorize and approve the membership and participation of its eligible employees in the tiashington State Employees ' Retirement System as of the 1st day of ;;oven;ber , 1954, pursuant to R.C.J. 41. 40.410 and author- izes the expenditure of necessary funds to cover its proportionate share for participation in said system as provided by law. Section 2: That the City Clerk of the City of Everett be, and he is hereby directed to submit a certified copy of this ordinance to the 1etirement Board of said system as evidence of such authorization and approval. Section 3: That Ordinance No. 3023 providing for the creation of and maintenance of the Everett Employees ' Retirement System be, and it is hereby repealed as of the Ise day of November , 1954, provided that such repeal shall not be effective until the diashington State Employees ' Retirement Board shall have duly accepted the City of Everett and the eligible employees of the City of Everett into the VVashington State Employees ' Retirement System.
