- ORDINANCE NO. 3464 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13 OF ORDINANCE NO. 3442 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT ENTITLED: AN ORDINANCE fixing and determining the number of the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett; prescribing the duties of such officers, assistants, deputies and employees; fixing their salaries; repealing Ordinance No. 3352 of the City of Everett. j AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND ALLOCATING 0600.00 to THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SALARY AND WAGES ACCOUNT: WHEREAS, it is necessary for the public health and conven- ience that the salary ordinance of the City of Everett dealing with the personnel of the Police Department be amended to provide for two additional sergeants and one additional patrolman Third Class, for the balance of the year 1954, and WHEREAS, the need for additional employees in the Police Department could not have reasonably been forseen at the time of the making of the budget for the year 1954, and that it is necessary that said expenditure be made for the maintainance of the health, welfare, and best interests of the City of Everett. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 3442 of the City of Everett be amended to read as follows: Section 13: POLICE DEPARTMENT There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the Police Department, to-wit: One Chief of Police; Four Captains; one Supt. Bureau of Identification; one Asst. Supt. Bureau of Identification; thirteen Sergeants; twenty-eight Patrolmen First Class; one Patrolman Second Class; two Patrolmen Third Class; One Policewoman, First Class; one Maintenance Mechanic; and two Clerk-Stenographers. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in said Police Department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the Chief of Police or Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct. Section 2: That an emergency exists and there is hereby allocated to the Police Department of the City of Everett, the sum of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) for salary and wages for the balance of the year 1954.
