- <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3464 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13 OF ORDINANCE NO. 3442 OF <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT ENTITLED: <br /> AN ORDINANCE fixing and determining the number <br /> of the various officers, assistants, deputies <br /> and employees of the City of Everett; prescribing <br /> the duties of such officers, assistants, deputies <br /> and employees; fixing their salaries; repealing <br /> Ordinance No. 3352 of the City of Everett. j <br /> AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND ALLOCATING 0600.00 to <br /> THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SALARY AND WAGES ACCOUNT: <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary for the public health and conven- <br /> ience that the salary ordinance of the City of Everett dealing with <br /> the personnel of the Police Department be amended to provide for <br /> two additional sergeants and one additional patrolman Third Class, <br /> for the balance of the year 1954, and <br /> WHEREAS, the need for additional employees in the Police <br /> Department could not have reasonably been forseen at the time of <br /> the making of the budget for the year 1954, and that it is necessary <br /> that said expenditure be made for the maintainance of the health, <br /> welfare, and best interests of the City of Everett. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 3442 of the <br /> City of Everett be amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 13: POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers and <br /> assistants in the Police Department, to-wit: <br /> One Chief of Police; Four Captains; one Supt. <br /> Bureau of Identification; one Asst. Supt. <br /> Bureau of Identification; thirteen Sergeants; <br /> twenty-eight Patrolmen First Class; one <br /> Patrolman Second Class; two Patrolmen Third <br /> Class; One Policewoman, First Class; one <br /> Maintenance Mechanic; and two Clerk-Stenographers. <br /> It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants <br /> in said Police Department to perform the duties <br /> indicated by the name of their employment, and such <br /> other duties as the Chief of Police or Commissioner <br /> of Safety may authorize and direct. <br /> Section 2: That an emergency exists and there is hereby <br /> allocated to the Police Department of the City of Everett, the sum <br /> of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) for salary and wages for the <br /> balance of the year 1954. <br />
