ORDINANCE NO. 3463 <br /> AN ORDINANCE calling an election to fill vacancy in the <br /> office of the Commissioner of Public Works: declaring that a primary <br /> election shall be held on the 3rd day of A ugust, 1954; and the final <br /> and general election on the 31st day of A ugust, 1954; declaring <br /> that all persons desiring to file declaration for candidacy shall <br /> file their declaration not earlier than the 4th day of June, 1954, <br /> and not later than the 18th day of June, 1954; declaring that any <br /> candidate receiving the majority of all votes cast at such primary <br /> election shall have his name alone placed on the ballot at the final <br /> general election as provided by Section 75 of the City Charter of <br /> the City of Everett and declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, L. H. Unzelman, Commissioner of Public Works of <br /> the City of Everett, has passed away and there exists a vacancy in <br /> the office of Commissioner of Public Works, the unexpired term of <br /> which was more than two years, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That a special election to be declared a prim- <br /> ary election to fill the vacancy in the office of Commissioner of <br /> Public Works will be held on the 3rd day A ugust 1954, the final <br /> general election to be held on the 31st day of August, 1954. <br /> Section 2: That all persons desiring to file declaration <br /> of candidacy shall file their declaration of candidacy not earlier <br /> than the 4th day of June, 1954, and not later than the 18th day of <br /> June, 1954. <br /> Section 3: That any candidate receiving a majority of all <br /> votes cast at such primary election shall have his name alone placed <br /> on the ballot at the final general election as provided by Section 75 <br /> of the Charter of the City of Everett. <br /> Section 4: That the final general election to fill the <br /> vacancy in the office of Commissioner of Public Works shall be held <br /> on the 31st day of August, 1954. <br /> Section 5: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> by reason of said vacancy existing in the office of Commissioner of <br /> Public Works and by reason of the requirement of the City Charter <br /> that a special election be held, and a special municipal election <br /> shall be held on the 3rd day of August, 1954, which shall be known <br /> as a primary election, and a final general election shall be held <br /> on the 31st day of August, 1954. <br /> Section 6: That this ordinance shall take effect on its <br /> first reading, passage and publication. ^�f <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: .. .. <br /> S/ ' ohn L. cigar <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: June 1, 195* <br /> Published: June 2, 1954 <br />
