ORDINANCE NO. 3450 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1655 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT ENTITLED: An ordinance regulating the installation, erection, alteration, repair, use and operation of electric wiring, connections, fixtures, and other electrical appliances in buildings and other structures in the City of Everett, providing a penalty for the violation thereof, repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, and declar- ing an emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 1655 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 13: The following requirements shall be man- datory as to all existing buildings and all new construction: (a) Rigid Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing shall be required for all wiring of any buildings within Fire Zone No. 1 and No. 2 of the City of Lverett. (b) All apartment houses, school buildings and build- ings to be used for the purpose of public assembly shall be equipped with Rigid Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing, except where it is impossible to install Rigid Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing the City Electrical Inspector may permit the use of Flexible Conduit. (c) In public buildings, factories, warehouses, hotels, or apartment houses containing more than two (2) apartments, ill wiring where the voltage is over twenty-four (24) Volts shall be installed in Rigid Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing. Where it is impossible to install Rigid Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing, the City Electrical Inspector may permit the use of Flexible Conduit. (d) All conduits, conduit boxes and conduit outlet boxes, except outlets used with knob and tube wiring, shall be glvanized or sheradized. (e) Non-metallic sheathed cable, wooden raceways and cleat wiring shall not be used in the City of Everett. (f) Service entrance conductors shall be in Rigid Conduit or Electrical Metallic Tubing. (g) Size of neutral conductor No. 4 shall be Type Ro Size of ungrounded service conductor Two No. 4 shall be Type R. Size of service conduit shall be 14 inch.
