l ' <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3439 <br /> !AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7, ITEM 1r, OF ORDINANCE <br /> NO. 3139 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT ENTITLED: <br /> 1 AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the sale of 404 <br /> milk and milk products; providing for grading and for <br /> the inspection of the production and processing thereof; <br /> requiring permits ; defining offenses and prescribing <br /> penalties; and repealing Ordinance No. 21i110 and all <br /> i ordinances in conflict herewith. <br /> iii NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 1 <br /> i <br /> Section 1: That Section 7, Item lr, of Ordinance No. <br /> i 3139 is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> 1 <br /> {I ITEM lr. CO`,IS, TUBERCULOSIS AND OTHER DISEASES. Except as <br /> 1 provided hereinafter, a tuberculin test of all herds and <br /> additions thereto shall be made before any milk therefrom is <br /> sold and at least once every 12 months thereafter, by a <br /> ' licensed veterinarian approved by the Washington State <br /> Department of Agriculture. Said tests shall be made and <br /> j the reactors disposed of in accordance with the requirements <br /> approved by the health officer for accredited herds . A <br /> certificate signed by the veterinarian or attested to by <br /> i <br /> the health officer and filed with the health officer shall <br /> be evidence of the above test; Provided, that in modified <br /> accredited counties in which the modified accredited area <br /> plan is applied to the dairy herds, the modified accredited <br /> area system approved by the health officer shall be accepted <br /> in lieu of annual testing. <br /> On or after July 1, 1954, it is unlawful to sell, offer <br /> or expose for sale any fluid milk or cream designated or <br /> represented to be "Grade A" fluid milk or cream with know- <br /> ledge that such milk or cream has been produced from a herd <br /> of cows or goats, one or more of which are infected with <br /> brucellosis at the time such milk was produced, or with <br /> I knowledge that all animials in such herd have not been <br /> blood tested for brucellosis at least once during the pre- <br /> ceding calendar year or milk ring tested for brucellosis at <br /> least semi-annually during the preceding calendar year . The <br /> results of a test for brucellosis by the State or Federal <br /> i' Laboratory of a blood sample drawn by an official veterinarian, <br /> hshall be prima facie evidenc e of t:r e '_nf ect ion or non- <br /> infection of an animal or herds, or in lieu thereof two <br /> official negative milk ring tests for brucellosis not less <br /> than 6 months apart may be accepted as such evidence. <br /> All herds of cows or goats shall be blood tested for brucell <br /> osis annually or milk ring tested for brucellosis semi- <br /> !' annually. All herds showing any reaction to the milk <br /> ring test must be blood tested and all reactors to the <br /> f blood test must be removed from the herd and disposed of <br /> -rithin fifteen ( 15) days from the date they are tagged <br /> and branded . The remaining animals in the infected herd <br /> ! shall be re-tested at not less than 30-day nor more than <br /> 60-day intervals from date of the first test . A series of <br /> 1 <br /> betests, with removal and slaughter of reacting animals, <br /> shall be continued until the herd shall have passed two <br /> it <br />
