s <br /> { ORDINANCE NO. 3434 <br /> AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF ICE BOXES, REFRIGERATORS <br /> AND OTHER CONTAINERS rvhICH HAVE AIR TIGHT DOORS; REQUIRING SAID <br /> EQUIPMENT TO HAVE RELEASES OPENING FROM THE INSIDE AND PROVIDING <br /> FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. <br /> WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the City of Everett in that <br /> instances have been reported in other cities of death due to <br /> suffocation of children in abandoned, unattended ice boxes, refrig- <br /> erators and other containers having air-tight doors which when <br /> closed cannot be opened from the inside, and <br /> WHEREAS, these abandoned, unattended or discarded ice boxes, <br /> refrigerators and other containers are a constant menace to the <br /> health, welfare and safety of children in the City of Everett, <br /> NO1 , THEREFORE, ThE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or <br /> corporation to leave outside of any building or dwelling in a place <br /> accessible to children any abandoned, unattended or discarded ice <br /> box, refrigerator or any other container of any kind vh ich has an <br /> air-tight door, or lock which may not be released for opening from <br /> the inside of said ice box, refrigerator or container. <br /> Section 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm Or <br /> corporation to leave outside of any building or dwelling in a place <br /> accessible to children any abandoned, unattended or discarded ice <br /> box, refrigerator or any other container of any kind which has an <br /> air-tight snap-lock or other device thereon without first removing <br /> the said snap-lock or doors from said ice box, reiir•igerator or <br /> container. <br /> t <br /> 1 Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating any <br /> of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a <br /> misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not exceeding '. <br /> I4lO0.O0 or by imprisonment for not in excess of 30 days.
