- . - <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3411 <br /> AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A HEALTH CERTIFICATE FOR PERSONS <br /> HANDLING FOOD OR DRINK OR CLEANING UTENSILS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH <br /> IN ANY BAKERY, RESTAURANT, FOUNTAIN, MILK PROCESSING AND/OR MILK <br /> DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM: PROHIBITING ANY PERSON FROM EMPLOYING ONE NOT <br /> HOLDING A VALID HEALTH CERTIFICATE: AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR <br /> VIOLATION THEREOF. <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary for the protection of the <br /> public health that a uniform check be made of all persons handling <br /> certain types of food for human consumption, and <br /> WHEREAS, said check can only be made by requring such <br /> persons to take a health examination, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person to employ <br /> any person, or for any person to handle food or clean utensils in <br /> connection therewith, in any bakery, restaurant, fountain, milk <br /> processing and/or milk distribution system, whether wholesale or <br /> retail, for a period of not more than four (4) days unless that <br /> person shall secure a valid `City Health Certificate" issued by the <br /> Health Officer of the City of Everett, or Temporary City Health <br /> Certificate which is unexpired. <br /> Section 2: Any person desiring a City Health Certificate <br /> shall: <br /> (a) Submit to such physical examination as the <br /> Health Officer shall require in order to <br /> determine the applicant 's physical con- <br /> dition with reference to the handling of <br /> food for human consumption. Such examin- <br /> ation shall include a chest X-ray <br /> examination for tuberculosis. <br /> (b) Make application to the Health Officer of <br /> the City of Everett upon forms provided by <br /> the City Health Officer. <br /> In event it shall appear that the applicant is free from any con- <br /> tagious diseases and is not infected with any disease which will <br /> affect general sanitation, a City Health Certificate shall be issued <br /> by the City Health Officer to the applicant. <br /> Section 3: The Health Officer may require a health <br /> examination to be taken by a holder of a City Health Certificate at <br /> any time during the year, when, in his opinion, such is necessary <br /> for the protection of the health of the general public. Such exam- <br /> ination shall be given without further charge to the applicant. <br /> Section 4: All City Health Certificates shall expire <br /> one year from the date of issuance. <br />
