• <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3408 <br /> AN ORDINANCE calling an election to fill vacancy in the <br /> office of Commissioner of Finance; declaring that primary election <br /> shall be held on the 27th day of March, 1953, and the final and <br /> general election on the 24th day of April, 1953; declaring that all <br /> persons desiring to file declaration for candidacy shall file their <br /> declaration not earlier than the 26th day of January, 1953 and not <br /> later than the 10th day of February, 1953; declaring that any <br /> candidate receiving the majority of all votes cast at such primary <br /> election shall have his name alone placed on the ballot at the final <br /> general election as provided by Section 75 of the City Charter of <br /> the City of Everett and declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, Henry Arends, Commissioner of Finance of the City <br /> of Everett, has passed away and there exists a vacancy in the office <br /> of Commissioner of Finance, the unexpired term of which is more <br /> than two years, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That a special election to be declared a pri- <br /> mary election to fill the vacancy in the office of Commissioner of <br /> Finance will be held on the 27th day of March, 1953, ant the final <br /> general election to be held on the 24th of April, 1953. <br /> Section 2: That all persons desiring to file declaration <br /> of candidacy shall file their declaration of candidacy not earlier <br /> than the 26th day of January, 1953 and not later than the 10th day <br /> of February, 1953, <br /> Section 3: That any candidate receiving a majority of all <br /> votes cast at such primary election shall have his name alone placed <br /> on the ballot at the final general election as provided by Section <br /> 75 of the Charter of the City of Everett. <br /> Section 4: That the final general election to fill the <br /> vacancy in the office of Commissioner of Finance shall be held on <br /> the 24th day of April, 1953. <br /> Section 5: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> by reason of said vacancy existing in the office of Commissioner <br /> of Finance and by reason of the requirement of the City Charter that <br /> a special election be held, and a special municipal election shall <br /> be held on the 27th day of March, 1953, which shall be known as a <br /> primary election, and a final general election shall be held on the <br /> 24th day of April, 1953. <br /> Section 6: That this ordinance shall take effect on its <br /> first reading, passage and publication. <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> City Cle k'� <br /> Passed: January 2f , 1953 <br /> Published: T mr,rq ?1, 1953 <br />
