ORDINANCE NO. 3276. <br /> An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1655 entitled, "An <br /> Ordinance regulating the installation, erection, alteration, re- <br /> pair, use and operation of electric wiring, connections, fixtures <br /> and other electrical appliances in buildings and other structures <br /> in the City of Everett, providing a penalty for the violation <br /> thereof, repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in con- <br /> flict herewith, and declaring an emergency" by amending Sections <br /> ,13(a) and 13(b) thereof. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> Section 13(a) : The "National Electrical Code" as <br /> edited by the National Board of Fire Underwriters and recommended <br /> by the National Fire Protection Association for 1947, together <br /> with the Supplement issued and dated November 1, 1949, entitled, <br /> "1949 Supplement to the 1947 edition to the 'National Electrical <br /> Code ", is hereby adopted as a part of the Electrical Code of the <br /> City of Everett there being three copies of said 1947 "National <br /> Electrical Code{" and 194v Supplement on file with the City Clerk <br /> of the City of Everett; ana such code, together with the supple- <br /> ment, is by this Ordinance hereby made a part of this Ordinance <br /> as though fully set forth herein. <br /> Section 2: <br /> Section 13(b) : That the rules, regulations, and <br /> directions of the 1947 edition of the "National Electrical Code" <br /> and the 1949 Supplement to the 1947 edition to the "National <br /> Electrical Code"" shall, in all respects, be complied with, and in <br /> addition thereto the following additional requirements shall be <br /> complied with as to new constructions or alterations: <br /> (1) Within the fire limits of the City of Everett , <br /> or in public places, factories, warehouses, hotels, or apartment <br /> houses containing more than two (2) apartments, within or without <br /> the fire limits of the City of Everett, all wiring where the volt <br /> age is over twenty-four (24) Volts shall be installed in Rigid <br /> Conduit or Electric Metallic Tubing. .'there it is impossible to <br /> install Rigid Conduit or Electric metallic Tubing, the City Elec- <br /> trical Inspector may permit the use of Flexible Conduit. <br /> (2) All conduits, conduit boxes, and conduit out <br /> let boxes, except outlets used with knob and tube wiring, shall b: <br /> galvanized or sheradized. <br /> (3) Non-Metallic sheathed cable, wooden raceways <br /> and cleat wiring shall not be used in the City of Everett. <br /> (4) Service entrance conductors shall be in Rigi⢠<br /> Conduit or -Electrical Metallic `:Tubing. <br /> (5) Size of neutral conductor No. 4 shall be <br /> Type h. <br /> -.1- <br />
