Sewer Report
Material: pvc
Sewer Length: 75 feet
Condition: Newer installation but holds water in spots very flat install.
Explain: Bathroom installed below house for commercial use they probably needed line
flat to connect to existing sewer stub.
Recommend: Install backwater valve on south side near parking in gravel area (see
attached picture) only after side sewer is replaced with a minimum of 1-2%.
Any additional comments:
• Espresso stand seems to be connected to same side sewer line. There is a catch
basin on the side sewer line between the espresso stand and the main line.
Since there are no below grade fixtures in the espresso stand it is unlikely that it
would be affected by a surcharge event.
• Caution: Backwater valve will not function as effectively on a side sewer that has
does not have a 1-2% minimum grade (this is per the manufacturer's
specifications). To ensure backwater valve functions correctly the side sewer
should be re-graded with a minimum 1-2% slope.
Problems Identified
1) No Backwater Valve at this location
Solution: Install Backwater valve at point indicated in the attached sketch. Side sewer
needs to be replaced with sufficient slope prior to installing a backwater valve so that
the valve can function properly.
2) Very flat side sewer line
Solution: Re-grade the line open trenching and replacing side sewer with a minimum of
1-2% slope all the way to the main sewer line.
As-Built of Sewer and Plumbing
See attached sketch
