Attachment A
City of Everett Professional Services Agreement
Community Attributes, Inc.
AquaSox Economic Impact Analysis
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Everett, Washington, has long been the home of the Everett AquaSox, now
considered a High-A Club, the third-highest level of play in Minor League
Baseball. In recent months Minor League Baseball (MiLB) made sweeping
changes across the league, nationwide. New team divisions and multiple
ownership consolidations come with new expectations of team operations and
playing venues.
Funko Field has been a mainstay in Everett since 1947, and home to the
AquaSox and its predecessor club since 1984. The stadium underwent
extensive renovations in 1998, with 3,700 seat capacity and many
improvements on site. Funko Field is on land owned by the Everett School
District.
MiLB now requires new standards for minor league venues that affect Funko
Field to continue to serve as home to the AquaSox. The City of Everett is
aware of the investment requirements, at least conceptually. City and civic
leaders anticipate the need to contextualize needed investments, by
providing an updated understanding of the economic benefits of the AquaSox
at Funko Field and potential visitor spending impacts of alternative
locations. The analysis should also provide an understanding of the economic
impacts of the AquaSox pre-pandemic, currently and the potential differences
in impact based on selected alternative locations. The analysis will also
explore the benefits of events at the Angels of the Winds Arena to Downtown
Everett businesses.
EVERETT AQUASOX PAGE 1
ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY COMMUNITY ATTRIBUTES, INC.
