Project summary statement: In accordance with Ordinance 1183-85, the Seattle Outboard Association submitted a formal application to hold its 2022 Boating Regatta on Silver Lake. A one -day Regatta has been held annually on Silver Lake since 1954. In 2020, the Seattle Outboard Association requested a two-day event. However, the event was cancelled due the pandemic. The same request was submitted for 2021 and Park Board approved the two-day event on a trial basis. The Seattle Outboard Association has applied for the same event to be held in 2022 and be held as a two-day event. In late February, the public hearing process was initiated. As required by the ordinance the public hearing was promoted through the Everett Herald and signage was put up throughout Silver Lake. Parks staff solicited public input and comments leading up to the public hearing. The Board of Park Commissioners held a public hearing on April 5th and voted to recommend to Council that the Seattle Outboard Association's application to hold its annual Boating Regatta over two days, June 4 and 5, 2022 be approved. Ordinance 1183-85 requires City Council approval. The City Council has approved the Association's request, on an annual basis, to hold the event on Silver Lake. This is the only event of this type held at Silver Lake during the year. Recommendation: Approve the Seattle Outboard Association application to hold a two-day boating regatta on Silver Lake on June 4 and 5, 2022.
