Does side sewer have slope: Yes 2% except at backwater valve.
Depth of side sewer 10ft from house: 5' 4"
Any additional comments:
• Pretty new pvc sdr 35 (green) sewer pipe with B/W valve installed after side
sewer install.
Problems Identified
1) Backwater valve installed without proper slope, and the pipe is offset near the valve.
'C
E
1 Spa 'yti'
,y S
qr
rf
 n 39 f tt, o..
Offset on upstream side of backwater valve
Solution: Adjust the valve and replace a section of the side sewer so that there is
positive slope (1% minimum) leading away from the valve. Also, replace any offset
portion of the side sewer.
2) Some downspouts do not have splash blocks.
A: Extend downspouts 3' or more from foundation, and provide splash block. Verify that
surface is graded away from the house where downspout discharges.
3) Rear stairs floor drain to basement will not drain during surcharge storm event.
S:\#Common\clerical\SIDE SEWER&PLUMBING INVESTIGATION\Final Reports\2nd Batch\1321 Oakes final.docx 5/3/2011
