Is backwater valve functioning properly: Yes
Is there currently a clean out on the side sewer: Yes outside and inside
How many at risk plumbing fixtures below the road surface are there: 0
How many down spouts are currently connected to the sewer: 1 in the backyard
Does side sewer have slope: 1% pretty flat near back water valve but acceptable
Depth of side sewer 10ft from house: 6'
Sewer Report:
Material: PVC
Sewer Length: 64'
Condition: Good a little flat near backwater valve
Explain: Holding a little water near valve (not very much)
Any additional comments:
• See below
Problems Identified
1) Land around foundation is back graded toward foundation
Solution: Bring in soil and slope away from home to stop possible water leaks through
foundation.
As-Built of Sewer and Plumbing
See attached drawing.
Comments
• All down spouts that are connected to the side sewer could be disconnected and
routed to splash blocks so that less flow is in the side sewer causing potential
surcharge events. Where downspouts are routed to splash blocks the ground
surface should be sloped away from the house.
• Installing a grinder pump would provide increased protection from sewer backups
beyond the protection a backwater valve can provide.
