PUBLIC WORKS 00-A
n
,a _ ,if 6
At►
June 3, 2011
Eugene Dobson
5105 View Drive
Everett, Washington 98203
Re: Plumbing Investigation at 1501 Oakes Avenue for Backwater Valve Program
Dear Mr. Dobson:
The City of Everett's contractor, Seattle Drain Services, inspected your property on
February 9th, 2011 to determine if a backwater valve is appropriate for your residence.
Enclosed is a summary of their findings.
Please review the report and contact us with any questions.
The inspection found that a backwater valve is already installed at this location. Therefore
no further work was identified that would be eligible under the backwater valve program.
However, the report does identify some other deficiencies in your plumbing, sewer and
drainage system. These include:
• The backwater valve was not installed and secured correctly at the time of
inspection. This needs to be correctly installed and secured in order for the valve
to work correctly (problem identified #1).
• Significant grease in side sewer line was present that could cause future backups
(problem identified #2).
• Portions of the yard slope toward the house (problem identified #3).
• Downspouts are connected to the side sewer (problem identified #4).
Storm damages related to these and other private system deficiencies are the
responsibility of the property owner. We therefore recommend that you regularly inspect
your plumbing, sewer and drainage system to ensure it is working correctly and
efficiently. You are also welcome to call us if you have any questions on maintaining your
backwater valve.
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8882
