i I�venl calied a�vater abateme�t company and they were all booked up and told me it was cruciai for me to get that carpet out of the basement along with the padding and get carpet fans to dry out the basement. They also told me their servlces would cost$30U0.00 to do the cleanup. I am a single mom of two teenage girls and this price was something I couldn't pay. So,th:next morning I headed to Lotves and purchased respirators,gloves, bleach,etc,to protect me and my children as we went and tore out the carpet padding and carpet from my flooded basement. 1 also had a nelghbc come and light my pllot light in mywater heater because the ilooding had pu[out the I(ght So,for a eood 30 hours, my daughters and 1 tore I out the soaked carpet and carpet padding. We had to throw all contents that were toucheJ by i the water away because they were contaminated. The water looks to have come out of the shower in my basement bathroom and soaked the laundry room/bathroom,rec room,entry way into rec room,J��nk room,and my daughter's room I also 1 had to bag up all tliis debrls and haul it to the dump on 9.3.13. The weekend was Labor Day v�eckend. So, I was pr�tty much on my own due to the ex¢ended holiday weekend. i did contact rny insurance company ond they made it out 9.10.13 where they look everything over and told me that they tvould not rover anything because it was a City problem. They did stress it was Important for me to get my basement taken care of because mold is present In the sheet rock and�vhere the�vater came from is questionable. He gave me numbers of construdion companies to call for estimates. I will attach their estimates to my"Tort Claim Form" along with the letter(rom my insurance company stating they would not cover my basement flood. I also have pictures of my basement post tlood with carpet and padding removed. I did have ServiceMaster oF Everertt,Karla DufFy come out and look at what it would take to get my basement wholc. She quoted me$3000 verbally and is backlogged with other people needing her to get them an estlmate. Karla's number Is 425-503-i657. I will also be attaching my Lowe's receip[from the protective wear and cleanup I did,my dump receipt,and a receipt from Walmart for new trash cans,garbage bags,a mop to clean the floors with,more gloves etc. My personal expense to dean up the ilood thus far is Lowes: $119.06 Dump: $ 37.00+ Gas to friend and help with dump: $Z0.00 Walmart: 82.56 X 8.6%=$69.66 Total out of pocket clean up cost: $266.26 � � � ,� �`� � �. �- �
