Y <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3256. <br /> An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2730, entitled, "An <br /> Ordinance relating to the public health and pviding for the inspec- <br /> tion of animal meats intended for human consumption, regulating and. <br /> licensing tree preparation, handling and sale of such meats, defin- <br /> ing offenses, and prescribing penalties for the violations thereof" <br /> by amending erection 8 thereof and by adding erection 14 thereto. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 8 of Ordinance No. 2730 shall <br /> be amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 8: The Word "HAMBURGER or GROUND BEEF" as <br /> used in this Ordinance shall be deemed to mean and include only <br /> ground beef containing no offal, :Filler, or preservative of any <br /> kind, or more than twenty-five (2 5 b) per cent fat. (Heart, liver, <br /> tongue, and tripe shall be offal within the meaning of this sec- <br /> tion . ) The use of benzoate of soda or sodium sulfite or other <br /> preservatives shall not be allowed. <br /> It shall be unlawful to designate as "hamburger" or <br /> ' ground beef" any meat or meat product sold, offered for sale, <br /> advertised for sale, or disposed of, unless such meat or meat pro- <br /> duct complies with the foregoing definition. It shall be unlawful <br /> to use any decomposed, contaminated, or unwholesome beef in any <br /> meat product offered for sale, sold, or advertised as "hamburger". <br /> Section 2: <br /> Section 14: It shall be unlawful to go from house <br /> to house or place to place with or carrying or transporting uncooked <br /> or cooked meat or cured meat or sausage with intent to sell the <br /> same, or selling the same, or offering or exposing the same for <br /> sale, either at wholesale or retail, or to aid or abet any person <br /> in so doing. <br /> Mayor • <br /> ATTEST• <br /> /61-4i.e/461"4/ <br /> Passed: eptenDer 27th, 1949. <br /> Published: " 28th, 1949. <br />
