Cap underground drain lines to prevent spills or future
connections.
Solution B) Disconnect downspouts and install cisterns or rain barrels to collect rain
water from downspout lines. Cap underground drain lines to prevent spills or future
connections.
As-Built of Sewer and Plumbing
See attached drawing.
Comments
• Sewer has an unknown pipe access under the carpet in basement recreation
room. This is where flood waters from the surcharged sewer system previously
flooded the basement. Need to remove moldings and roll back carpet to verify
what is at this location. This may be a previous floor drain, or backwater valve
location. Backwater valve should protect this area from future surcharges.
• All down spouts that are connected to the side sewer could be disconnected and
routed to splash blocks so that less flow is in the side sewer causing potential
surcharge events. Where downspouts are routed to splash blocks the ground
surface should be sloped away from the house.
• Sewer has a lot of build up because it is cast iron pipe all the way under the
length of the home.
S:\#Common\clerical\SIDE SEWER&PLUMBING INVESTIGATION\Final Reports\2nd Batch\402 Rockefeller final.docx 4/28/2011
